Common questions

Where is my data stored?

Everything you log — meals, check-ins, symptoms, photos, profile — stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded, synced to a server, or shared with anyone.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works fully without one. There is no sign-in required to use any feature.

How do I move my journal to a new phone?

Open Profile → Data, choose Export, and save the file somewhere you can reach it from the new phone (iCloud Drive works well). On the new phone, open Profile → Data → Import and select that file. Meals, check-ins, symptoms, tags and photos all come across.

Why don't I see any patterns yet?

Trend analysis needs at least 21 complete days of data before it turns on. A "complete" day is one where you logged at least one meal and one check-in. Below three weeks, patterns are usually coincidences, so the app deliberately stays quiet until there's something real to say.

Automatic backup isn't working.

Automatic backup writes to the Files folder you picked. If the folder moved, was deleted, or lost sync (for example an iCloud Drive that got signed out), the status will say "Needs attention". Open Profile → Data → Automatic backup and choose the folder again.

How do I delete everything?

Profile → Data → Delete all data. One tap wipes every meal, check-in, symptom, photo, tag and profile detail from the device. There's no server-side copy to worry about, because there's no server.

Does AfterMeal give medical advice?

No. It's a personal journal that helps you notice patterns. It doesn't diagnose, treat, or replace advice from a doctor or dietitian. If something you're noticing worries you, please talk to a professional.

Something isn't working / I have an idea.

Email me at the address above. Include your iOS version and the app's Version and Build number (visible on the Today screen header, and in Profile). It helps me reproduce the issue quickly.
