AfterMeal is designed around a single idea: your journal is yours. This policy explains, in plain language, what that means in practice.

The short version

• Everything you log stays on your device.
• Nothing is uploaded to any server operated by the developer.
• No accounts, no sign-in, no third-party analytics, no advertising.
• No personal data is collected, shared, or sold to anyone.

What the app stores on your device

When you use AfterMeal, the following is written to your iPhone's local storage:

• Meals, check-ins, symptom entries, tags and any notes you type.
• Photos you attach to meals — saved as ordinary image files on your device.
• Optional profile details you enter yourself (a display name, a profile photo).
• App preferences such as whether you've completed onboarding, notification settings, and the folder you picked for automatic backup.

None of this leaves your device unless you take a deliberate action described below.

Things you can choose to do with your data

Export. You can export your journal at any time from Profile → Data. You get a single JSON file plus a folder of your photos. Where you save that file, and who you share it with, is entirely up to you. AfterMeal has no visibility into what happens to it after export.

Automatic backup. If you turn on automatic backup, AfterMeal writes one backup file to a Files folder you choose (for example, an iCloud Drive folder or an external drive). This writing happens locally through Apple's Files system; the developer has no access to that folder. Turn it off at any time from Profile → Data.

Import. If you import a backup file, AfterMeal reads it locally and adds the entries to your device. Nothing is transmitted to any server.

Delete. "Delete all data" in Profile → Data removes every meal, check-in, symptom, photo, tag and profile detail from the device. Because nothing was ever sent to a server, there is no additional copy to delete elsewhere.

Notifications

AfterMeal can schedule local reminders on your device for daily check-ins, only if you grant permission. Reminders are generated on-device by iOS; nothing is sent to a server. You can turn them off at any time from Profile or from iOS Settings.

Photos

If you attach a photo to a meal, AfterMeal reads the image you select and saves a copy to the app's own storage. Photos never leave the device. If you export your journal, they are included in the exported folder — that copy is yours to manage.

Camera and photo library permissions

iOS may prompt you for permission to access your photo library when you attach a photo to a meal. Permission is only used for that action. AfterMeal does not upload, scan, or analyse your photos.

Analytics, tracking and advertising

AfterMeal contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. The developer has no way to see how you use the app or which features you open.

Third parties

AfterMeal does not embed any third-party services that collect data. It does not contact any server operated by the developer or anyone else during normal use.

Children

AfterMeal is a general-audience journal and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because your data stays on your device and is not collected by the developer, requests to access, correct, or delete your data are fulfilled by using the app itself: export, edit entries, or use "Delete all data" in Profile → Data. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top will be updated and a new version will be published at this URL before the change ships with a new app release.
